[BLANK_AUDIO] When introducing an online component to an
educational environment, success often relies on how appropriate the chosen
technology is for the specific context. >> When you're new to online teaching and
designing online activities, the large number of technologies available,
both open or closed, can be quite overwhelming. >> This video will offer some steps you
might want to follow when selecting your own
online activities. Step one. Go back to your learning outcomes and
select the one or two that will inform your choice of an
online learning activity. Step two. Determine the type of activity that would
best help your students begin to address the
intended learing outcomes. There are different types of activities. There are sourcing, synthesizing, and
analyzing information-type activities. Discussion, and sharing of ideas. Or, self-regulated learning, or
self-assessment activities. Step three. Select the appropriate technology to help
facilitate the activity. There are a wide number of open and closed
technologies, as we have discussed in an earlier video, that
you may want to revisit. >> The table on the screen provides some
examples of technologies that might be suitable for
different activities. But this is by no means definitive, and
you may have used other technologies in your teaching
that you may want to revisit. The activities that follow will lead you
to explore different technologies suitable for a range of activities in a
lot more depth. >> This video offers you some steps to follow when including online activities in
your course. >> We can't begin to cover all of the
possibilities, in terms of activities and their
associated technologies, in this video. >> However, it has provided a starting
point for you to think about how you might approach including
online activities in your own course. [BLANK_AUDIO]
