So the fourth criterion that
you're going to use to assess your colleague's work is looking at the types
of strategies that you're going to use to evaluate their designed online
activity, assessment or resource. And it's module eight that was really
talking about evaluation strategies. So the first standard, like the other
criterion is not addressed, so if they for whatever reason did not provide an answer
in terms of what sort of evaluation strategy they would use,
you would select this particular standard. Now if they have provided a general description of an evaluation strategy and
going back to module eight there were several different evaluation strategies
that were mentioned, and from elsewhere they might have come up with
different evaluation strategies to use. So if they've described an evaluation
strategy but they haven't actually related it to there specific online
activity, assessment, or resource in terms of how they would actually
evaluate whether it was successful or not. It was just more of a general
evaluation strategy in general, then you would select
the Developing Standard. Now if they've, explained their chosen
evaluation strategy and actually specifically indicated how it would be
used to evaluate their online component, the activity assessment or resource, that's when you would
use the Achieved Standard. So for example if we go back to
the blog activity that is when, let's say your students are going
to be using the blog for reflective tasks and you want to then
evaluate the effectiveness of that. So perhaps you've chosen
the approach that we mentioned in one of our MOOC videos that you could
use four different lenses for example. So you might want to get feedback
from the students partway through the activity in terms of how
the blog is going for them. You might want to use some surveys or focus groups at the end of
the course to get some feedback. You might want to get a colleague
to give you some feedback on what they thought in terms of the peer
feedback of using a blog activity. And you might want to also
show your own self reflection. Was it effective? Did you find that students were actually
posting on time to their blog and really engaging with it? And also looking at how it might relate to
some of the learning analytics involved. So actually specifically saying not just
that this is the strategy I'm going to use, the four lenses, but what exactly
are you going to ask from your students? Or how exactly are you going to use
the strategy to understand whether your designed activity, assessment or
resource has been successful or whether you can continue to
improve it along the way. So if they have done that, they
provided their evaluation strategy and related to it, to the particular
activity assessment or resource, you'll select the Achieved Standard. Now if they've not only done that,
explained the strategy, and related it quite specifically to their online
learning component, but they've also provided evidence from the literature,
or evidence from the videos in the MOOC. Or evidence from their colleagues' past
experiences, whether it be colleagues in their institution or
through the discussion forums in the MOOC. Then when you do see
some sort of evidence, you'll select the outstanding criteria.
